My Global Giraffe Journey Kaleidoscope

I love knitting toys, or softies, as some people call them. The first one I knit was for RBSB’s kiddo because he loved giraffes and when I came across Susan B. Anderson’s Not-So-Itty-Bitty-Giraffe, I pretty much became addicted. I never liked knitting kids clothes. By the time I pick the pattern, then the yarn and then actually knit it, the kid won’t fit into it anymore! And the giraffe is such an easy pattern to knit.

I can knit it while I walk, while I sit in classes and meetings, with my eyes closed, while I’m on busses and trains and planes, and once, while I drove across the midwest… Before you get bent out of shape, I still had both hands on the wheel – I’m that good. 🙂  As I looked through all of the giraffes in my Ravelry project gallery the other day I realized I have left giraffes all over the world. I’ve also left other animals that  I designed based on the giraffe pattern. Here’s a few of them and where they ended up:

Fun piece of trivia

There are many names (collective nouns) for a group of giraffes: a tower (standing still), a jenny (in motion) and then corps, herd, troop, kindergarten, journey and kaleidoscope. I was torn between using Journey and Kaleidoscope for the blog post title but then I decided why choose!

Have your knitting projects ended up anywhere far from you? Do you know weird collective nouns for other things?
